+I understand Mitch McConnell trying to tell foreign governments not to take President Obama's climate change policies seriously.
+But now we have a Tehran Tom-style letter from the Senate Republicans addressed to the United Nations saying that any of President Obama's commitments on climate change may reversed so they should be cautious about any climate change agreement.
+Now first, the global community actually takes Climate change seriously. The President reached an historic agreement with China this past year that triggered a series of proposals by other countries who saw the two polluters as serious for a change.
+We had the preparatory meeting in Peru where NGOS and official delegations met to hash out differences on climate change proposals.
+This past month the governments have been submitting their climate change plans for the Paris meeting.
+We have already had the initial meetings for the Paris resolutions. The train has left the station.
+Now the Republicans appear after the United States has submitted its official plan to the United Nations and ignore all the work that has been leading up to Paris.
+Simply announce, Voila, ignore everything about the past year President Obama is a lame duck.
+Now one, this is as subversive as the Tehran Tom letter. But even more ridiculous.
+Countries have been crying out for a commitment from the United States so they can reach an agreement and not just toss the ball back and forth. All our allies are on board because they take the issue extremely seriously.
+The governments reading this letter either have to laugh it off or be horrified by the ignorance and arrogance of the Republicans.
+The whole thing makes foreign governments remember the days of George W. Bush, when it was believed that international law applies to you, not to me. I can just "hear"the cringe at such a letter. Is this American unilateral arrogance surfacing again?
+I think this type of stunt is setting the GOP for a big fall. There are already cutting the drapes for the Oval Office and the international community must be horrified.
+Does this undercut President Obama? That's the point. But it really doesn't because the foreign governments think the GOP are nuts.
+Remember W trying to persuade Jacques Chirac to support the Iraq War by saying Gog and Magog are on the loose in the Middle East.
+We are back to that. The full-scale flight from modernity.
