Hillary To Announce on Sunday

+Hillary Clinton is to announce her candidacy for President on Sunday in Brooklyn.

+I talked to a woman who makes the world's greatest macaroons the other day about Hilary's candidacy. She said she'll do fine and will probably be better than President Obama simply because she loves the game. Her take on a woman President was it should happen ,just because. Women are now 51% of the electorate and have served in almost every other post in public life.

+She said the same for President Obama. It's not that Hillary will do more for women,or Barack would do more for African-Americans. It's just because of who we should be that they deserved to be elected.

+I hope Hillary kicks her campaign off with an uplifting speech about the future, which can be compared to the rather dreary GOP kick-offs about taking the country back from you and me.

+Hillary Clinton will be the most vetted candidate in our history. Everything you ever wanted to know is there in the world of the internet and books. I just sold my copies of all the Clinton scandal books and trashed my notebooks from all the scandals in the 1990s. Remember Citizens United was a case about showing an anti-Hillary documentary on the air during election season.

+The memes from the 1990s will return and I believe they will just serve as pollutants in the atmosphere and are pretty much neutralized by now. We will have the inevitable references to HillaryCare and her billing issues in the Arkansas Law firm. She has lived several lifetimes since then. Hopefully, we have to.

+Prior to the 2014 elections, Hillary started receiving support from people like Rupert Murdoch, the late Richard Scaife, and those from the "right-wing" conspiracy,a term coined by Sid Blumenthal. Her enemies had moved on and recognize she served as Senator and Secretary of State with distinction. Even John McCain has said she would be a good President. I'm sure all of the above will deny it during the campaign.

+Her husband is now ranked among the top 10 Presidents in our history. He is a compulsive campaigner as we saw in the last election. But Bill Clinton can also be a liability and he tends not to remain disciplined. The question mark will be how much will he be used.

+Early polls show Hillary has strength in the Democratic demographics that propelled President Obama to the presidency. Here the story is more about how the Obama grass-roots coalition will be rolled into the Hillary campaign.

+Progressives who were rooting for Elizabeth Warren question Hillary's ability to sound the populist tones that draw support among the Democratic base. They also are concerned about her economic advisers, who tend to be the same people who surrounded Bill Clinton. They led to the end of Glass-Stegal, and opened the door to de-regulation.

+I don't see how you can around the fact the Game is rigged and you have a candidate who loves the game. The Democrats are facing an opposition which will have $1 billion in Koch funds alone. How do they expect to defeat that without money?

+Hillary will not be building on President Obama's foreign policy with openings to Cuba and Iran. She will be emphasizing diplomacy because of her experience at State, which will be a sharp contrast to her Republican opponent. But , as Andrew Sullivan warns us,she is a Neo-conservative in terms of her interventionist tendency. Case in point was her advocacy for military assistance to the so-called Syrian moderates and her trumpeting the plans to overthrow Assad.

+She would be doing herself damage if she ran away from President Obama's record. She should point out what policy initiatives she supported that were thwarted by Congress. But don't expect her to just throw Obama under the bus like Al Gore did to Clinton. And we all know what happened then.

+She can run on being tougher than Obama. A dubious assertion but one that would be convincing to the public.

+Since Republicans really did bank on # Benghazi! defeating Obama, they are now betting the ranch on #Benghazi! defeating Hillary. I wouldn't bank on that nicking her.

+One thing I can guarantee you is that Saul Alinsky will re-emerge as an issue to rile up the tea baggers.

+Don't expect the ObamaDerangement Syndrome to stop with Hillary. Expect the same vileness.

+The Hillary's liability is her sycophants. The entourage that appear to defend her. Some of these date back to President Clinton's years and look rusty and moldy. They do her a grave disservice because she is and acts better than they do.

+The Clintons can do schmaltz but I hope they knock it off. Hillary should let her humor appear more often. She has a great laugh.

+But I think a good kick-off will set the bar high for the Republicans who act so amateurish with their websites, apps and strangely disconnected rhetoric.

+Bon Voyage,Hillary! But remember we always have Jerry Brown.
