When You Lose Letterman

++David Letterman, who lived his first 27 years in Indiana and is considered a favorite son, came out full throttle against Mike Pence's Religious Freedom Bill.

++So you lose Letterman, your walking advertisement for Indiana, you lose NASCAR, you lose Marriot Hotels, you lose Eli Lilly, one of your largest employers, and Walmart. You basically lost the game.

++Walmart came out against Arkansas' Religious Freedom Act. Asa Hutchinson said today he wants it changed and that his own son signed a petition for him to veto it.

++Josh Marshall has a piece at Talking Points Memo about how big a deal it is that there has been such a backlash against the Indiana Law.The fact of the matter is that gay couples have a higher approval rating than Christian evangelicals. Gay, lesbian, and transgender activities have now been "accepted" by the majority of Americans. So,the 1950s norm just doesn't hold true anymore.

++On Rachel Maddow's Show,a reporter for the Indianapolis Star explained that after losing the same-sex marriage fight earlier that this bill was supposed to be the booby prize for the social conservatives. However, Pence did not realize how sift the country has changed and will not tolerate this discrimination.

++I want to point out that homophobia among the Religious Right as evidenced in Indiana is really anti-gay men. The local American Family Association talks about pseudo-lesbians. Women really can't be lesbians. And of course transgender should have no rights.

++From the right's religious perspective, your true faith is revealed by your attitude toward anal sex and with whom you should have such sex. The rest is immaterial--social gospel. Forget about it.

++All Republicans running for President in 2016 have endorsed their ole' buddy Mike Pence. What's worrisome about this is that public opinions may not affect any of these candidates views on absolutely anything. It's just sheer will and force.
