++The biggest polling news tonight doesn't come from Gallup or others,it comes from the Romney campaign. Earlier in the week the Obama campaign said that their internal polls had the President up by 9 in Ohio. I wrote that I thought this was psych-ops. But Politico confirms this tonight through a Romney official who says they are down in the "high single digits." If Romney doesn't win Ohio, he doesn't win. No Republican has ever won the White House without Ohio. I did write a post figuring out how he could win without Ohio but that was a fantasy on paper.
++From the "Cool" of the President to the "Weird" of Willard. Mitt Romney is scheduled to appear on Meet the Press for the first time in some eight months. This was promoted way in advance so he could take advantage of the jobs report. But now tonight it has been announced that he will be joined there by Ann Romney, provoking all sorts of tweeter snark about "Mommy having to hold his hand." But it is weird and decidedly un-presidential. A little desperation.
++Nate Silver, not known to be a fabulist, tweeted to night that it is easy to over interpret polls but this time it looks like a convention may indeed decide an election.
++Tomorrow brings the PPP polls.
